The Primary purpose of band and color guard is to educate each student. The function and educational outcome is performance.

Band / flag students will learn and demonstrate competence in many areas.

For band it will be the emphasis on instrumental performance skills, styles, history, terminology and music theory.

We may learn from method books, workbooks and a contemporary, classical, seasonal, international and traditional.

The type of music studied will enhance the student's appreciation and knowledge of all music.

Performance skills and instrumental techniques are strongly emphasized.

Experience levels of students range from one to seven years.

Each student sets a personal goal to improve his/her performance abilities for the year. Naturally, auditions dictate the chair order of each instrument section, but students are encouraged to "challenge" for higher positions in the section to help the band grow stronger.

For color guard, the emphasis will be to learn basic fundamentals of flag work.
